Darin “Voodoo” Voudrie, of Trussville Alabama, was killed on Friday the 13th of February, 2015, when the dump truck he was driving attempted to cross the railroad tracks located at the intersection of Brasher Road at Hagood Road in Kimberly, and was struck by an oncoming train. Voudrie had worked for the Jefferson County Roads and Transportation Department for 19 years. There were no other people injured. Examination of the intersection revealed that there was no crossing bars at the intersection. The accident occurred at 10:30 am. The train hit the dump truck with such force that is dislodged the truck’s engine and pieces of the dump truck were scattered for hundreds of yards.

The only witness to the accident was the train’s driver who said he did everything possible to warn the driver.

According to Sgt. Rusty Starnes of the Jefferson County Sherif’s Office, “Measurements and photographs of the scene of the accident are being taken and alot of it’s trial and error because no two wrecks are the same. It appears that the truck and the train were paralleling each other coming down Hagood Rd., who beat who is unclear at this time. We take it personal when we find a “nickle head” on the side of the truck. We’re all one big family.”

Voudry was well known and liked in the community and leaves behind a wife and four children.
