In what appears could be more than a coincidence, Amberely Nichole Maclin was in critical condition in Huntsville Hospital after the car she was a passenger in, a Plymouth Breeze driven by 44-year old Jeffrey Wayne Robinson crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Jordan Lane and Oakwood Avenue, at 4:30 a.m. less than an hour and one half after a similar automobile accident claimed the life of another young local person named Maclin.

In a separate accident hours earlier, 19-year old Jae Maclin, a recent student-athlete at The University of Alabama Birmingham and a safety on their football team was killed in the early morning hours on Thursday, June 4, 2015. Maclin was a passenger in an automobile, a Dodge Charger, driven by Deshaun Rich, 20.

Both the driver, Robinson, and Ms. Maclin had to be cut out of the vehicle. It is unclear what caused the vehicle to veer off the road and strike the pole. The relationship between Amberly and Jae Maclin, if any, is unknown and if Amberly was responding to the previous accident.

Whenever an automobile accident happens in the early morning hours, one has to look to alcohol consumption as a potential factor. What other reason does one have to be on the highway at that hour if not coming home from a late night of partying. Combine alcohol with a lack of sleep and you have a dangerous combination that can lead to serious injuries and often death.
