It is a driver’s responsibility to remain at the scene of an accident and call 911 for an ambulance and also to render first aid to any victims if necessary. Alabama Code 32-10-2 states that, among other things that a person involved in an automobile accident whereby another person is injured or killed, remain at the scene and render “reasonable assistance”, including calling for emergency help. Many deaths could be prevented each year by the simple act of dialing 911 after an accident.
