A 47 year old is dead and three others, two juveniles, have been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of a two-car crash in Huntsville. The accident happened around 6pm Sunday on Stringfield Road near the intersection with Highway 53.

The victim died at the scene of the accident after being ejected from his vehicle. Three people in all were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, two juveniles and the driver of the second vehicle.

It is unknown at this time what led to the crash and there are no eyewitnesses. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. It remains to be determined whether or not the victim was wearing a seatbelt but it appears that since he was ejected from the vehicle he was not. Seat belt laws in Alabama are lightly enforced and only as a secondary offense. If you are in the front seat you must wear a seat belt. The Alabama Department of Public Safety (DPS) imposes a $25.00 fine for not doing so. Individuals over 15 years old in the backseat are not required to wear a seat belt.
