Huntsville 18-Wheeler Wrecks

Kenneth Kelly and Robert Clark were killed in a tractor trailer wreck on August 7, when the Ford Focus they were traveling in turned in front of an 18-wheeler which broadsided the much smaller motor vehicle. The wreck occurred at 11 A.M. on highway 72 and County Road 85 in Stevenson causing both vehicles, the car and the 18-wheeler to catch fire. Even though it was reported that Kelly and Clark were pulled from the vehicle before the fire, both were pronounced dead at the scene.

On August 11, Clyde Paul Crawford was killed when the driver of a log truck, John Lawson Oden failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of Highway 31 and Huntsville Brownsferry Road in Tanner, and smashed into Crawford’s package deliver truck. Crawford, like Kelly and Clark in the preceding example of an 18-wheeler wreck, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In another 18-wheeler crash, 38-year old Lashunda Patrice Wells was killed when she lost control of the 2005 Nissan Altima and crashed into the metal dividing guardrail, causing the vehicle to slow down and struck by an oncoming 18-wheel tractor trailer driven by Rick Griesbach, 56 from Wisconsin. The 18-wheeler because of its’ massive size and weight was unable to stop in time or maneuver around the passenger vehicle. Wells was also pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-wheeler, fully loaded, can weigh up to 30 times more than the average passenger vehicle. It’s not hard using basic physics to predict who is going to win when these two types of motor vehicles come into collision with one another. Serious injuries are seldom and as the wrecks above bear out, most occupants of the passenger vehicle never make it to a hospital.

If you have a loved one who has been killed as a result of an 18-wheeler crash, there are many potential reasons why the driver of the 18-wheeler may have been driving recklessly or negligently and may be totally or partially at fault for the crash. Please call us at Ferguson and Ferguson Attorneys at Law as we are experienced and knowledgeable 18-wheeler crash lawyers and we help you to get financial compensation for your loss.
